“We are pleased to announce our acceptance into the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) small business development program,” said 2M Research Services, LLC’s founder and CEO, Dr. Marcus Martin.  “Acceptance into the SBA’s 8(a) program is a significant step forward for our firm.  The 8(a) program allows our firm to receive the types of business development assistance and support we need to successfully compete in the Federal marketplace.  Our goal is to work closely with the SBA, and to become one of the most successful companies in the program’s 55-year history.”

Federal agencies now have the opportunity to sole-source procurement opportunities up to $4 million to 2M Research Services, and 2M is eligible to compete for 8(a) set-aside contracts with a ceiling of $20 million.

Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 637(a)) established the 8(a) small business development program in 1958.  It authorizes the Small Business Administration (SBA) to enter into all types of contracts with other Federal agencies and to let subcontracts for performing those contracts to firms eligible for program participation. The SBA’s subcontractors are referred to as “8(a) contractors.”
